ARTIST BIO
Natasha Gill is a figurative painter residing in Port of Spain, Trinidad. Showing an aptitude for drawing from a young child, her parents encouraged her to pursue her creativity. Her family moved to Caracas, Venezuela in her childhood, and she continued her art studies at her high school where she learnt printmaking, batik, drawing and painting.
She attended Florida International University in Miami, pursuing a degree in International Relations. While there she took classes in ceramics, sculpture, jewellery making, stone setting, figure drawing and painting.
On her return to Trinidad, Natasha entered the field of graphic design, while pursuing her artistic hobbies on the side. She taught herself to work in batik, stained glass, glass bead making as well as continuing to refine her skills in drawing and painting, experimenting in watercolours and acrylics.
Natasha distinguished herself in the field of advertising as a Senior Art Director, earning several awards in the field. She has worked with both regional and international clients.
In 2015 she launched her artisanal jewellery line “Sundara” which featured handmade nature-inspired pieces. The brand became an established name across the country and garnered regional attention within the Caribbean.
At the end of 2019 Natasha felt like a new direction was on the horizon for her. When the world locked down in 2020, she decided to try her hand at painting, a skill she had never felt particularly good at. On a whim, she decided to try working in oils for the first time, and her artistic world exploded. She dove back into her passion for portraiture and has been painting professionally ever since.
In June 2023, Natasha held her first solo exhibition at Horizon's Art Gallery. At present, she is pursuing her M.A. in Carnival Studies at UTT.
